Soap Injection

I am trying to add a pump system for adding soap to my mixes.   I have an xjet bucket that fits perfectly in the tool box on my skid unit so, I want to use that as the container. I am looking to be able to eventually do everything from outside the truck(with ball valves) rather than in the skid. I just don't want to be crammed in the back of the truck mixing every day!

I only need 2-3 cups at a time so a 2gpm pump would fill that in a couple of seconds and seems like overkill.  Does anyone know of a smaller pump or a different method to add my soap this way without having to pour the soap in each mix.

Thanks

Hey Eric,..sometimes the simple things go right over my head?? What are you trying to do here,..have your soap tank in a stationary spot so you can simply use a valve from an easily accessible spot to fill your cup?

Eric I'm sure you hava a battary in there somewhere. Try to make a braket to add a small pump to the side of it. Something like this sidewinder. I have this hooked up to my soap tank.

Is there a way to do it by gravity, without a pump?

Ed,..that's what I was gonna suggest,...but wasn't sure what he was trying to do. Just mount it up higher than the outlet and let flow.

We use a clear plastic car boy with a valve and hose to add soap to our mix tank. Its all gravity fed. We had to add 16 ounce increments to the car boy to make it work for us.

Another idea I tossed around was using a battery operated back pack sprayer to add soap to the mix tank but I never I never followed up on it. Perhaps one day I will.

Eric, I was trying to do the same thing but for some reason my first attempt didn't work out.
I am in the process of having another go.

I'm going to use a 12v 100psi shurflo pump with a waterfed pole controller to pump the soap. These controllers can regulate the flow from 1 to 99. They can also be used to set the psi from 1 to 99.

I will have a non return valve between the chemical pump and the tee where the shurflo pump feeding the soap into the mix to prevent the soap being pumped into the mix tank if the mix pump is turned off and the shurflo is left on. I will also have a non return valve fitted between the shurflo pump and the tee to prevent mix going through the shurflo pump in the event that it is turned off when using SH. The other end of the tee will feed into the hose reel.

Hope this makes sense.

Check this out Eric. It would be nice if you had a spot to mount this over your tank www.uline.com/BL_8169/Carboys

Eric,

If you don't have to use the 7800/2gpm pump (in the video) then Northern tool has a 1gpm on demand pump on their site, which could make life easier when pumping soap.

Put in a three-way ball valve to pull straight sh from one side and your soap mix from the other side.

From there into the inlet of the main pump.

From the outlet of the main pump, another three-way valve splitting the SH or Soap to the mix tank and to the hose reel.

This way you should be able to send SH and soap to the mix tank by turning the valve at a convenient location (like your tool box).

I have mine set up to pull either Straight SH/Soap/Water from the same pump by turning some valves and it all gets transferred right to the mix tank. It makes life easy!
