Guys which 12v pump is the best one to buy. I have been using Everflo 21ltr a minute pumps and get about six months out of them. I need new pumps and would like to know your opinions. I am considering a gas powered roller vane pump but if it runs dry it will cause damage to the pump so I'm undecided on it.

I'm still a fan of Delavan pumps. I'm not a fan of the Versajets.

The delavan pumps are the only thing I've ever used. My 5850 treats me way better than I deserve. The fat boy has worked but has been regulated to the shop transfer pump. We wash out pumps after every use. They just respond better after each being treated with some care. Eliminate as many elbows as you can to add longevity.

I believe the power wash store has the vera jets. They are rebuildable in the field it takes about 10 minutes. We have them as back up to our booster pump.

I tried different tips, the tip that stops the cycling is where I only get about 10 feet of height

I've been using the dual pump from power wash store.( Wow thats a big pic! My cam does 4k deffinition now, ( takes a half hour to upload vids to youtube now) Gotta love the s5!) Used to have the 4.9 gmp's with an accumulator, and a trigger gun very similar to the one in pic. . For this year I stepped up to the fatboy, and not going with accumulator. The bigger tips tried are on the 4 banger. The gun is a 12gpm. EDIT: sorry about the pic. I'm going to be out there tomorrow messing around with it again.

Is that connection to the ball valve small? Low flow?

Mike try to find a 5/8 x 1/2" thread barb to connect the to the gun. Put the hose in hot water and force it on

Why don't you just buy some real spray nozzles? A tip is only a couple dollars. That is loopy using tips like that, you are just going to dump solution everywhere. That is the first thing you need to change.

Mike, I have no clue what you are trying to do but as Zach said, dump that home made stuff. You need 0030, 1530, 2530, 4030 and another with 0040, 1540, 25,40 and 4040... in that order. You are spraying 20' because your orifice is about 100! If you really want to have a good J Rod replace the 0030 & 0040 with 30 & 40 shooter tips.

I would send a picture of the gun we have because there is a place you can make another change. Dump that 12" nipple with a 45 and go with a quick connect straight from the gun. You DO NOT need that set up on the gun.

When it comes to cycling, it's an easy fix with the 0030 tip and an allen wrench.

Well, Thanks everyone for all the advice. I got to get this figured out. It is an important thing.

How long will the fatboy last until I figure out the cycling? How many roofs could I get done before I got to get another fatboy? I have good practice of rinsing 12 volts out, always have. The new thing is the higher GPM fatboy and figuring out the tips and cycling, that I have going on now.

How long will the pump last with good rinsing out and no abuse. 1 roof, I'm not going to get through my first one, 6 or seven?

EDIT: I should fix this before spraying roofs, but I'm kinda backed up, people are calling wanting there roofs done. They are getting mad. First for the temps, (not my fault), and now me being scared I might not finish a roof. ( my fault).  I got to jump out there and make some moves without fixing the cycling. How long will the pump last?

Mike I would not clean anything until you get the right spray tips, you are going to waste money on chems and probably kill some plants. Get back to your roots and remember the basics. Those issues will cost you more than the cost of replacing your pump.

Year 10 Mike? You don't have any spare nozzles? It is so easy to dial in a Delavin pump... 0030, an allen wrench and the ability to squeeze the gun.

Rinsing has nothing to do with the relay. If you burn up a relay you can bypass but you will have to turn off the pump when you let off the gun. If you dial in the pump you will not have any problems.

Mike,

Make life easier for yourself. Call Bob at Pressure Tek and tell him you need the 4-banger and nozzles for the fat boy. End of story.
