Erik,..I addressed this issue several years ago,..I never liked the way the hose connected to the hose reel neither. There is a very simple fix,..just turn the hose reel elbow so it's running inline with the core of the reel,..then when you attach the hose,..it will be coming straight out,..and along length the core of the reel. Then it's easy to give a gradual transition when winding,..and doesn't have that "uncomfortable" looking connection.

You just need to remove the 45 you added.

I prefer one section of hose on the reel. This is more preference than reasoning. If anything though,..I like the smooth drag of hose over any terrain, without the coupler getting snagged. Also leaves a lump on the reel.

I hope I explained that ok,...it's simple in my mind,..but I don't always explain things well,..Ha, Ha,.

Jeff I follow you! I thought about turning the fitting but didnt try it. I'm going to either do that or make zip tie the loop on to the hose reel side.

1 hose would be ideal but a lot of people said 2 separate sections in case one goes while working tou still have the other. I have 2 100ft hoses.

Wonder if their is a coupler that has a 45 bend to it??

I learned many years ago from some people who made sense to me that, don't put more than 100' of hose on the PW reel. We carry at least 150' extra on the trucks. If the need more it's just a few minutes to get it hooked up. When the hose on the reel goes, we only lose 100' instead of 200'.

Yea,..the argument for sections makes sense,...to some degree. For me,..I replace every two years and don't have blowout issues. For the instance that I would,..I have repair kits with me. But yea if you run hose until it starts bursting then having sections could be better. I run low PSI 80%-90% of the time. Surface cleaner and rotating nozzle get full power.

I use one piece of 200'

So I'm sure running lower PSI helps longevity,..but I prefer to replace every two years.

I also DS at around 2% solution of SH and soap,...and I'm sure that takes a toll,..so yea,..I like to replace to avoid issues. Every two years is probably overkill,..but hey piece of mind.

*I will take the old hose and cut it into 50' section and make single pieces using the reusable ends I mentioned in a previous thread. I rarely get into jobs that take more than 200',..but I keep an extra 50' section with me,..just in case.

I roll with 150 on the PW ’. Seems to always work out for me. I keep about 75’ of old hose for backup on the truck

I use to replace hose too Jeff, then there were employees. It amazes me how one truck can go for two year w/o issue and another is constantly having hose issue. I buy a really good hose with a heavy duty exterior jacket from ACS Products. It lasts, as long as it's not abused!

I buy (1) wire Goodyear Continental smooth cover non-marking hose. I use to but the blue,..but it seems the only true non marking is the gray. The blue is ok for a while,..but the cover begins to oxidize and starts leaving rub marks on various edges,..like steps,. railings,.. etc....

For connecting two separate lengths we use this 3/8 steel connector to connect two 100 foot hoses. Keeps hose flat on reel. I am sure you could find them locally....

Doug I've been looking for this all week locally and have not been able to find it. This is exactly what I'm looking for going to have to order it.
