TITAN HOSE REELS
Permalink

My experience w Titan hose reels.  The back ordered one finally came in. It seems titan cant keep up with the demand.

The titan hose reels were prob the best choice for me. I like that they are all aluminum. I like the way they stack compared to the others.

BUT there is A LOT of room for improvement in design and in quality control.

1. Every hose reel came out of alignment right out of the box . The frames were not square. Had to loosen basically every nut and bolt and man I fold, pull frame into square and then snug everything down

2. The small gear on the motor shaft is adjustable. All 3 needed to be adjusted. Chain would want to get jammed up and try and come off .

3. The MAN I FOLD... They need to redesign the how a hose connects to the MAN I FOLD.  We shouldnt have to have have a combination of  parts and fittings just to get a hose to lay flat and not kink.

4. When you use the stacking kit on the electric model. In order for the stacking kit to sit even. You need to either add spacers to 3 of the corners or you need to grind a slot  in the switch mounting plate. I opted for the grind, took me  longer to get the tools  out then to grind it. This issue is such an easy fix when manufacturing the parts I dont know why they cant fix this.

$700 dollars for a hose reel, they really need to step up their game.

Wow! That's crazy to have to do all that work after paying a premium price.

I have two Titan hose reels,..one is aluminum and one is stainless,..they both were ordered with stainless Proportioners. They are each around 5 years old and no issues to speak of,..but,..Erik is correct, the reel frames aren't the most heavy duty they could do and keep the cost fair I'm sure,...with that said,..has never been an issue.
The adjustment mine has for the chain,..doesn't really exist,..aside from moving the motor I guess,..which looked like a pain to me. I noticed a lot of slop in the chain and was afraid it was gonna jam into itself or come off. I posted this this on PWI at the time.

My solution to adjusting the chain is simple: Simply remove the four bolts that hold the "spool" in place,..and use spacers, or washers to lift the spool. This will adjust the chain to any desired tightness. Very simple!

They may have a few issues,..that aren't really relevant as far as I'm concerned,..the motor works well,..the solenoid is still working,...a little tweaking isn't a big deal. The Hannays are much more expensive and they say a better reel? I guess define better? I'm on around 4-5 years,..and no issues.

Had the same problem...I ordered 4 electric and one was out of alignment...sent video and pics to vendor I bought them from and was immediately asked "What the hell did you do to it"...all I did was take it out of the box. Was suggested I loosen all the bolts and true it up. After trying I ended up sending it back, they fixed it and I had to pay shipping both ways....was pretty frustrating aft spending that much money. Glad to hear, but not glad that I'm to only one its happened too.....I'd be livid if all 4 had arrived that way.

This may be a petty comment,..but my response above above had the word "m-a-n-i-f-o-l-d-s"" changed to "Proportioner",..what violation of words is that. I tried to fix it,..but I can't edit it at all? You can't spell petkok properly neither,..seems to me that all the more people who post on here,..and we all seem to keep our language in check,..would be nice to see the banned words thing go away.

Jeff over the years things happened around here and we changed things up with the profanity filters. Its a pain in the ass to go into the control panel to fix stuff. I'm in there every day working on this thing. I put a support ticket in to find out how to fix it. These forums are obsolete and none of the guys want to post here anymore. I know you don't like FB, but thats the way everybody is going these days. Our customers can find us way easier and see our work. The NSWA FB page is more active then here because its easier to post stuff. Like Picture and videos. If you don't like FB that your prerogative.

Hey Art,.thanks for fixing it. As far as facebook,..it always sounded to me like the wild west. I don't even have a personal facebook account. If I was just starting out and looking for any and all info,..I'd likely be on board. I usually come here to share info with people I'm somewhat familiar with.
